STEAM StationsSTEAM stations can be independently driven activities students can complete when they are finished with classwork or they can be used as an extended center activity. This STEAM station changes with the science unit and contains an independent activity the students complete and reflect on. This particular station is a color wheel the student color, assemble, and investigate. There are specific questions they answer about their observations. This station was set up about 2 weeks prior to the unit of Light as an introductory activity. Once the unit has begun, a discussion about the principles behind the station activity will be initiated.

Maker SPaceMaker spaces really help bring the Art component into STEAM. This particular Maker Space began with the collection of recyclable material over the period of one month. The students, who are unaware of the project at this time, will be using these material to design and construct a NEW type of instrument using what they have learned in the Sound unit. The instrument has to produce three distinct pitches. This is a week long project that comes after the initial unit.
